(Bonn, June 2002) In the last call for
proposals of the IST Programme the SIBIS partners have submitted a proposal
entitled "SIBIS+: Statistical Indicators for Benchmarking the Information
Society in the EU and NAS: The eEurope and eEurope+ Indicators" which
was accepted by the technical evaluators and is currently under contract
negotiation with the EC for funding as an extension to the SIBIS project.
The SIBIS+ objective is to geographically expand the SIBIS activities
("Statistical Indicators for Benchmarking the Information Society")
from the EU Member States to the following Newly Associated States: Slovenia,
Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia,
Lithuania, Latvia. This parallels the extension of eEurope to eEurope+,
an Action Plan by and for the candidate countries.
