SIBIS project to be extended and now cover 15 EC Member States, 10 Newly Associated States, Switzerland and USA
(Bonn, June 2002) In the last call for proposals of the IST Programme the SIBIS partners have submitted a proposal entitled "SIBIS+: Statistical Indicators for Benchmarking the Information Society in the EU and NAS: The eEurope and eEurope+ Indicators" which was accepted by the technical evaluators and is currently under contract negotiation with the EC for funding as an extension to the SIBIS project. The SIBIS+ objective is to geographically expand the SIBIS activities ("Statistical Indicators for Benchmarking the Information Society") from the EU Member States to the following Newly Associated States: Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia. This parallels the extension of eEurope to eEurope+, an Action Plan by and for the candidate countries.
